Integrated
Early Child Care
SIDART believes that early childhood care and
education should be rooted in education because what happens to a child,
and the opportunities provided to a child in the first years are
crucial in determining lifelong outcomes. It is thus important that
teachers, being the key factor involved, need to be experts in the area
so that they can help children successfully trough this crucial phase of
human development, and not merely preparing them for later years.
SIDART initiated an innovative and unique
Training and Capacity building Program for the pre-primary teachers. The
5 days workshops have been organized for various schools of Jaipur. The
training was facilitated by eminent resource persons who had a
considerable and long standing hands-on experience and knowledge of
early child care, development, and education. Different areas were
covered such as the various developments i.e. physical, socio-emotional,
language, cognitive development, imagination & creativity,
importance of play and curriculum planning. The program adopted a
participatory approach, involving practical exercises, brainstorming,
group discussions, games and so on. The objective of the program was to enable the
teachers to review and get oriented regarding the strategies of Early
Child Care Education. The program was effective in enhancing
communication skills, promoting behavioral changes in their approach for
child care and understanding the socio-physiological status of the
children. After the workshops, teachers received a five days’
certificate of the course in early child care en education.
